Celtic FC has appointed Brendan Rodgers as its first team manager, lifting the Glasgow club's Aquis-listed shares by almost 1.5%.
Rodgers joins on a three-year contract with the Scottish football team, having already worked as manager of the team between 2016 and 2019.
His previous tenure at Celtic saw them win two consecutive domestic trebles and complete an ‘invincible’ season.
Reports have claimed that Rodgers’ new contract makes him the highest-paid manager in the history of the club.
His appointment comes after ex-Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou joined Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.
The Australian coach was reportedly paid £2mln annually or £400k per week when working at the Scottish club.
Celtic was listed in the mid-90s after disgruntled fans rallied for new ownership.
Dermot Desmond, one of the richest men in Ireland, is currently the largest shareholder of the club with a 35% holding, according to MarketScreener.com.
Shares in Celtic were trading at around 130p on Monday, up almost 15% in the year to date.
