Anglesey Mining to resume drilling at Parys Mountain

The programme could potentially lead to a significant portion of the deposit being upgraded into the Indicated category

Anglesey Mining has started preparations for a new round of drilling at Parys Mountain on Anglesey.

In particular, the Northern Copper Zone will see its first infill drill programme since 1974 comprising six drill holes (3,700 metres) to verify earlier results and test for extensions.

A resource estimate in 2012 contained 9.4Mt of copper at a grade of 1.27% plus minor gold, silver, zinc and lead credits.

The internal resource estimate from the early 1970’s was more than 30Mt at 0.81% copper without by-products.

Statutory consultees have also responded to the environmental impact pre-application, Anglesey said, with these to be included in the Environmental Impact & Social Assessment (EISA) scoping document.

Jo Battershill, chief executive, commented: “The proposed drilling of the Northern Copper Zone is very exciting and could potentially lead to a significant portion of the deposit being upgraded into the Indicated category, while also delivering some broad widths of copper mineralisation into a copper hungry market

"Very few of the historical intersections were incorporated into the current mineral resource estimate, so any success on these zones could have very positive implications on future resource updates.”
