Tickets for Lionel Messi's first Inter Miami game more expensive than Taylor Swift concert

Lionel Messi’s first fixture at Inter Miami is causing a frenzy, with ticket prices rivalling pop sensation Taylor Swift.

The Argentine’s debut is expected to occur next month at David Beckham’s franchise club, with average ticket prices costing around US$2,600 on the resale platform SeatGeek.

Tickets for Swift’s Eras Tour, however, cost about US$2,635.

There is no official date pencilled in for Messi’s debut with the multi-million-pound deal yet to be finalised.

Fans, however, have seemingly pinned their hopes on the 21 July game between Inter Miami and Mexican club Cru Azul as the most likely date.

The cheapest ticket for the game is over US$950 before fees, while tickets for Miami’s game against Columbus Crew are available for as little as US$29.

According to data from Statista, quoted in Bloomberg, the most expensive ticket to last December’s FIFA World Cup final, in which Messi scored two before lifting the trophy, went for US$1,607.
