ITV PLC (LSE:ITV) said there “can be no certainty” as to whether a transaction for the possible acquisition of All3Media will take place, following recent media speculation.
The broadcaster was referring to an article from Reuters, which claims the company is exploring the possibility of purchasing the production group and combine it with ITVStudios.
All3Media is currently under the joint ownership of Warner Bros and Liberty Studios.
Any deal could see Warner Brothers sell its stake in one of Britain’s largest independent production companies to help trim its US$49bn debt pile, Reuters said, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Liberty Global (NASDAQ:LBTYA), which holds nearly 10% in ITV, could retain a stake in the merged entity, or ITV could simply buy out both parties.
All3Media, which produced Fleabag, Midsomer Murders and The Traitors, could be valued at more than £1bn.
