Dart Group to beat market expectations, shares soar

Dart Group, the aviation and distribution group, surged 30% after announcing that group profit before tax (‘PBT’) for the first half of the current financial year would come in ahead of expectations.

The company said it expected PBT to be ‘in excess’ of £30 million.

Amazingly, and in contract to practically every other airline that that reports to the UK market, Dart Group said that its Jet2.com no frills airline “is set for a record summer”. “Jet2.com, is delivering improved yields coupled with load factors on these routes in excess of 90% in the peak months. Trading performance has been supported by increased charter volumes, strong cost control, and a conservative approach to fuel hedging”, the company stated.

Meanwhile at the group’s distribution business, Fower Welch-Coolchain, the company confirmed that it remained unaffected by rising fuel prices as it passes on the cost to customers. Overall the distribution business was performing ‘in line’ with company expectations.
