Google, owned by Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), is launching two new AI-based upgrades to help advertising campaigns gain a wider reach.
A new feature called ‘Demand Gen’ will use artificial intelligence to distribute video and picture ads across Gmail and YouTube.
Ads on the video-sharing site will also be distributed onto its ‘Shorts’ section, YouTube’s version of the quick-fire video app TikTok.
The technology will help find where it's best to place the ad, making it “shiny, visual and immersive”, according to Google’s general manager of advertising Vidhya Srinivasan.
Video views will also see a boost from the new technology.
Using AI, the adverts received 40% more views than the in-stream skippable click-per-view campaigns typically seen on YouTube, the Google manager added.
This gives brands a chance to focus more on the marketing strategy and storytelling and less on the “grunt work”, Srinivasan said.
Almost every tech firm has incorporated AI into its operations following the meteoric rise of ChatGPT, with Google releasing its own chatbot earlier this year.
This week, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the rise of artificial intelligence could overshadow the industrial revolution in terms of the impact it had on the UK.
