Mako Gold hits up to 16.78 g/t gold in maiden Gogbala South RC drilling at Napié

Mako Gold Ltd (ASX:MKG) achieved encouraging results in the first pass of reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Napié Project’s Gogbala South prospect in Côte d’Ivoire, intersecting mineralisation up to 16.78 g/t gold from just over 60 metres of depth.

The maiden RC drilling at Gogbala South is part of a planned 10,000-metre campaign over four targets at Napié covering a wide area with 400-metre spacing between drill holes.

So far, the company’s efforts have borne fruit, delineating gold mineralisation over a 1.6-kilometre strike length at Gogbala South and demonstrating strong potential for resource growth at the project.

Targeting multi-million-ounce gold camp

“The maiden drilling program at Gogbala South has returned some highly encouraging results,” Mako Gold managing director Peter Ledwidge said.

“Considering that spacing of drill fences is 400 metres, we consider this to be a very good start for Gogbala South and are looking forward to further drilling to extend mineralisation along strike and at depth.

“The Gogbala South target is the first of four targets for which we have received results, out of 15 targets identified from our recent auger drilling.

“These results bring us one step closer to our goal to expand our current 'proof of concept' 868,000-ounce maiden resource, in line with our near-term goal of outlining a multi-million-ounce gold camp at Napié.”

Notable results from this latest round of drilling assays include:

  • 6 metres at 6.00 g/t gold from 62 metres, including 1-metre at 16.78 g/t from 62 metres and 1-metre at 15.20 g/t from 65 metres;
  • 9 metres at 1.39 g/t from 79 metres, including 2 metres at 3.02 g/t from 79 metres and 2 metres at 2.45 g/t from 86 metres;
  • 1-metre at 8.70 g/t from 68 metres;
  • 5 metres at 1.33 g/t from 69 metres; and
  • 4 metres at 1.47 g/t from 1 metre.

Mako expects to receive results from the other three targets within the next few weeks.
