Alantra, the Spanish banking group, is moving its investment arm’s headquarters to London from Madrid.
This marks the third international company to head to the English capital in the last few months.
Private equity firm Apollo Global Management (NYSE:APO) picked London as its new European headquarters and on Monday crypto venture capitalist Andreessen Horowitz chose the City for its first office outside the US.
Alantra’s new office in Cannon Street will accommodate 180 workers, made up mainly of around 150 investment bankers.
A statement from the firm said: “It is a natural next step to create a key hub in London, given the significance of the City as a global financial centre.
“It offers access to institutional capital and top talent from around the world.”
Both Alantra’s investment banking chief executive officer and co-chairman will make the move over to the UK.
The office is a ten-minute walk from the offices of Singer Capital Markets, an investment firm in which Alantra owns a 30% stake.
In late April, Instagram confirmed it was moving from London back to the US to work closely with content creators.
HSBC has also mulled reducing its office space, in April it said it was considering downsizing from its tower in Canary Wharf to a smaller location in Fleet Street.
Several office towers in the Canary Wharf area have been redeveloped to provide accommodation as many workplaces were left empty post-pandemic.
