The latest results from extensional aircore drilling at Cardinia Gold Project’s (CGP) Eastern Corridor have offered further evidence of camp-scale potential for Kin Mining NL (ASX:KIN)'s Western Australia project with more gold mineralisation and a third parallel mineralised trend.
The new trend, which sits to the west of the Rangoon prospect, was identified in shallow aircore drilling and is untested at depth. There is also evidence of a potential linking structure between the Cardinia Hill and Helens-Rangoon mineralised trends.
With these fresh results, Kin Mining has delineated gold mineralisation over more than 5 kilometres of strike, between Cardinia Hill and Helens in the south and Collymore in the north.
Deeper drilling to come
“These latest results demonstrate a number of new mineralised positions within the Eastern Corridor as either completely new zones of mineralisation or providing significant confirmation and extensions to previously intersected quartz pyrite mineralisation,” Kin Mining managing director Andrew Munckton said.
“These results have very similar characteristics to those seen at all deposits within the Eastern Corridor, where the combination of anomalous soil geochemistry at surface followed by broad-spaced, ore-grade aircore results in the oxide and regolith zone in the right geological environment has frequently led to the discovery of sizeable gold deposits at depth when tested with reverse circulation and diamond drilling.
“Based on these similarities, we’re very much looking forward to testing the Rangoon-Collymore Trend with deeper drilling.”
Highlight gold results from extensional drilling between Cardinia Hill and Collymore include:
- 4 metres at 4.18 g/t gold from 8 metres;
- 4 metres at 2.84 g/t from 28 metres;
- 4 metres at 2.09 g/t from 8 metres;
- 4 metres at 1.89 g/t from 4 metres;
- 4 metres at 1.55 g/t from 32 metres;
- 4 metres at 1.48 g/t from 20 metres; and
- 5 metres at 1.34 g/t from 28 metres to the end of hole.
“Exceptional” growth potential
“The Eastern Corridor – where Kin has focused most of its exploration efforts over the last 18 months – is emerging as a large, multi-faceted mineralised gold camp,” Munckton continued.
“It already hosts a very significant mineralised position at Cardinia, with 339,000 ounces of mineral resources currently defined within the corridor and further ounces expected to be added as part of the upcoming resource update scheduled for late June.
“With these latest results suggesting that the entire 5-kilometre strike extent between Collymore, Helens and Cardinia Hill may be continuously mineralised – opening up the possibility of significant additional targets along this corridor – we believe that the growth potential in this area is exceptional.”
KIN is confident the newly discovered mineralisation is similar in style and host rocks to high-grade gold mineralisation encountered at other locations such as Helens, Helens East, Cardinia Hill and Rangoon.
Results from the newly identified third gold trend, west of Rangoon, include:
- 9 metres at 2.10 g/t gold from 36 metres to the end of hole;
- 4 metres at 1.84 g/t from 4 metres;
- 4 metres at 2.08 g/t from 20 metres;
- 4 metres at 2.30 g/t from 52 metres;
- 4 metres at 2.39 g/t from 16 metres; and
- 8 metres at 1.84 g/t from surface.
Assay results are also pending for a further 4,483 metres of aircore drilling in the southern portion of the Eastern Corridor, covering the area from East Lynne to Cardinia Hill, as well as infill lines to the north of Rangoon.
