Having been fired from Fox News, the network’s former darling anchor may have to stop his Twitter show.
Tucker Carlson received a cease and desist letter from Fox, according to reporting from Axios. The letter argues Carlson is violating his employment contract, which reportedly expires in 2025.
Prior to the announcement, lawyers for Carlson reportedly told Fox News that the noncompete clause is no longer valid, alleging that the network committed fraud and violated the contract itself.
Fox’s decision to fire Carlson came after the network reached a $787.5 million settlement in a defamation lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems over he and the network’s promotion of former President Donald Trump’s false claims that the company helped Joe Biden steal the 2020 election.
On June 6, Carlson debuted “Tucker on Twitter,” in which the conservative personality spent roughly 10 minutes arguing without evidence that Ukraine perpetrated an attack on a dam in a Russian-occupied area.
The show’s second episode, scheduled for Tuesday, is expected to tackle the federal indictment of Donald Trump over his handling of classified documents.
