IQGeo Group PLC (AIM:IQG) said senior vice president Raf Meersman has been elected president of the board of directors at the FTTH Council.
The FTTH Council is an industry body with the goal of advancing fibre-based connectivity across Europe.
Meersman will work with other FTTH Council board members on a voluntary basis to support and educate the industry on fibre technologies, according to a statement.
He will also contribute to relevant legislative initiatives across Europe.
"I'm proud to have been involved with the FTTH Council for more than a decade and in this time we've made amazing progress in establishing fibre technology as the industry standard for sustainable, high-performance broadband,” Meersman said.
“There is still much to be done on fibre rollout and adoption, and I'm excited to continue this important work in my new role as president of the board."
