Alfa Financial receives £615mln private equity takeover approach

Alfa Financial Software has confirmed speculation that it has been approached about a takeover, potentially adding to the exodus of tech companies from the London Stock Exchange.

In a statement, Alfa said it had received a number of unsolicited offers, the latest of which was worth 208p a share in cash and came from Scandinavian private equity firm EQT.

The offer is non-binding said the statement and comes with a partial unlisted share alternative.

EQT has until 7 July to decide whether to make a formal bid for the developer of software for the asset finance software group..

At 208p, the offer values Alfa at £615mln.

Shares were trading at 200p shortly after the announcement having risen by 61% since their low this year of 124p in March.
