Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani will find out today whether his final offer to takeover Manchester United Plc (NYSE:MANU) has been accepted.
The Qatari banker has been determined and unwavering in his attempts to buy the club, submitting a ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ bid on Wednesday.
Hamad al-Thani gave the Glazer family, who have been in control of the Premier League club for nearly 18 years until today to accept the offer before he walks away.
This isn’t the first time al-Thani has promised a last-ditch ‘Fergie time’ bid.
Earlier this month, he upped his offer to around £5.5bn, which included the clearance of the £1bn debt, which seemingly wasn’t enough to sway the Glazers.
His competitor throughout this process, Ineos owner Jim Ratcliffe, is believed to be the Glazer’s preferred option.
Ratcliffe is believed to have proposed a majority buy-out as opposed to a full sale, meaning the Americans can keep some of their fingers in the pie for at least a little while longer.
