Invinity Energy Systems PLC (AIM:IES, OTCQX:IESVF) shares rose by as much as 5% in early trading on Friday as the global leader in utility-grade energy storage announced the deployment of its next-generation product prototype in British Columbia (BC), Canada, early next year.
The prototype, funded in part by a C$0.5mln award from the BC Centre for Innovation & Clean Energy (CICE), will be a 1.2 MWh vanadium flow battery called 'Mistral'.
This pilot deployment aims to demonstrate the performance of Mistral as a customer-facing, fully-integrated energy storage system.
In a statement, Invinity CEO Larry Zulch expressed gratitude for CICE's support and excitement about the progress being made toward changing the world of stationary energy storage.
Around 9.25am, Invinity Energy shares had pared their gains to 1.2% at 42.50p, retreating from the early peak of 44.00p.
