Amazon enters BNPL partnership

Amazon confirmed a partnership with buy now, pay later (BNPL) group Affirm Holdings.

Merchants using Amazon Pay will have access to Affirms service, which allows customers to spread the payment of bills over time.

BNPL has become a growing service, allowing customers to pay for items in often with interest-free repayment options.

The service gave birth to the likes of Klarna and Stripe, while others, such as PayPal, have also created their own versions.

However, BNPL has been heavily criticised for failing to make clear to customers that this is a form of credit that could see shoppers fall into debt.
