Tantalex Lithium Resources (CSE:TTX) Corp told investors its activities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are in full throttle as it nears the completion of its Titan plant construction and finalizes the Manono lithium tailings Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA).
“These are exciting times for Tantalex Lithium as we are executing our strategy to become an operating mining company in the DRC. After a harsh rainy season which delayed the construction efforts, the TiTan plant will now be commissioned in the next few weeks,” said Tantalex Lithium CEO Eric Allard.
He acknowledged that the Tantalex team had worked “relentlessly” to get things off the ground.
“We are also progressing well with our additional objective of becoming the first lithium producer in the DRC as our PEA for the Manono Lithium Tailings project is in its final stages of preparation,” said Allard, while noting that the results of the PEA will guide the next phase of development of the feasibility study.
Allard revealed that Tantalex is in “advanced discussions” with strategic parties to ensure the financing of the Manono lithium tailings feasibility study and the planned pegmatite corridor drilling campaign.
He is going to talk about Tantalex’s vision and transition from an exploration to a producing company at the DRC Mining Week in Lubumbashi. The June 14-16 conference is important with the DRC playing an increasingly bigger role in the battery metal industry in Africa.
Titan plant construction
The Toronto, Ontario-based company said it is doing multiple activities around the Titan Mine, with the goal of becoming the most modern tin and tantalum alluvial processing plant in the DRC.
The construction activities are nearly 80% complete with activities focused mainly on electrical connection of the various modules, building offices and TSF excavations, said Tantalex.
This week, Tantalex said it will receive a visit from a delegation of stakeholders who will witness the progress at the site. The delegation will have representatives from Cominiere SA, the National Mining cadastre (CAMI), Province of Haut-Lomami, Province of Tanganyika, Territorial Administration, and village chiefs.
Pegmatite corridor exploration
The firm said detailed mapping activities are continuing on its concessions 12448 and 12447 which encompass 800 square kilometers (km²). The geological team is making progress in adding more prospective drilling targets and identifying outcropping pegmatites throughout the concessions.
The drilling of the first principal targets on the corridor is planned once the financing has been completed, said Tantalex. A total of 20,000 meters is planned over the next nine months.
