GoviEx Uranium to sponsor project to train rural women in Niger as solar engineers

GoviEx Uranium Inc (TSX-V:GXU, OTCQX:GVXXF) has announced that it is sponsoring a project to train rural women in Niger to install solar systems that will provide lighting for rural homes.

"We are thrilled to sponsor the Solar Project, an initiative that aligns with our values and our commitment to supporting local communities in Niger,” said Daniel Major, CEO of GoviEx Uranium, in a statement.

“Investing in education and skills development is a key part of our ESG strategy so we can help build resilient communities that can thrive long after our mining operations are complete."

Barefoot College International’s Solar Project will train women in livelihood development and a holistic women's empowerment curriculum. Notably, the women have no formal education in solar technology installation and maintenance. The training will take place at Barefoot’s training center in Senegal.

In addition to bringing sustainable electricity to households, the project is about empowering women and rural communities, GoviEx explained.

As part of the project, GoviEx is funding the installation of solar home lighting systems in 40 rural households. The systems will be installed by two rural women solar engineers, affectionately known as 'Solar Mamas'.

GoviEx said its Madaouela project in Niger, set to begin production in 2026, is expected to bring significant benefits to the local communities, including job creation, revenue generation, and royalty payments.

GoviEx is a mineral resource company focused on the exploration and development of uranium properties in Africa. In addition to its flagship mine-permitted Madaouela project, it has a mine-permitted project, Muntanga, in Zambia.
