Perimeter Medical Imaging AI Inc (TSX-V:PINK, OTC:PYNKF) has announced the appointment of Adrian Mendes as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately.
The medical technology company said Mendes will replace Jeremy Sobotta, who is stepping down from the position on June 15, 2023, due to personal reasons. It added that Sobotta will work closely with Mendes during the transition period to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.
Perimeter Medical noted that Mendes brings a wealth of experience as a technology executive, having spent 25 years building and scaling technology companies across various industries. He most recently served as the chief operating officer at Groq Inc, an AI hardware company.
In a statement, Suzanne Foster, chair of Perimeter's board of directors commented: "We are grateful for Jeremy's many contributions and service to Perimeter, particularly his prudent management of the Company's finances as the business transitioned from development stage to commercial stage."
She added: "We are excited for Adrian to join Perimeter at this exciting time in the company's growth as we focus on execution on commercial placements of the S-Series with continued advancement of the AI-enabled B-Series."
Mendes, the incoming CEO of Perimeter, commented: "The hardworking team at Perimeter has done a wonderful job marrying OCT technology with world-class AI algorithms and developing products that will greatly help cancer surgery patients. I look forward to joining this amazing team as they work to deploy these products broadly and get them into the hands of surgeons everywhere."
Additionally, Perimeter Medical Imaging AI announced the appointment of Dr Josh Vose, an experienced medical device executive, to its board of directors.
The company noted that Dr Vose has a strong background in scaling novel surgical technologies, particularly in breast oncology and reconstruction. He recently served as CEO and board director at SIA Health, leading the company through its Series B financing and acquisition by Integra LifeSciences.
Suzanne Foster said: "Josh will be instrumental in providing guidance to our ongoing clinical and regulatory strategy to accelerate the B-Series through clinical development and to commercialization."
Based in Toronto, Canada and Dallas, Texas, Perimeter Medical Imaging AI is focused on revolutionizing cancer surgery through its ultra-high-resolution, real-time imaging tools.
The company's US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) cleared Perimeter S-Series OCT system provides cellular-level visualization of excised tissues, while its investigational Perimeter B-Series OCT with ImgAssist AI, designated as a breakthrough device, is currently undergoing evaluation in a pivotal clinical trial supported by a grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.
