BATM Advanced Communications Ltd (LSE:BVC) said it has been awarded a five-year emergency connectivity services contract in North America for its Edgility platform.
Edgility will be used to deliver the call-handling system for 911 Emergency Services and the 988 National Suicide Prevention & Mental Health Crisis Lifeline across a major US state, the company noted, its first contract in a public safety application.
Using the platform, response times to incidents should be enhanced and faster, BATM added, while as a virtual network, it will cut power use. reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability.
Moti Nagar, BATM’s chief executive, said the contract was a great endorsement for Edgility given the high standards of reliability and efficacy required for emergency services call handling.
“As emergency communications become more sophisticated in assisting first responders as well as expanding access and ease of use for individuals, edge computing plays a mission-critical role in processing data close to end-users to deliver potentially life-saving services," he added in a statement.
