'Bitcoin Jesus' claims Ethereum will drive widespread crypto adoption

Roger Ver, dubbed 'Bitcoin Jesus' due to being one of the first investors in cryptocurrency, has said Ethereum, not Bitcoin, will drive widespread adoption of cryptos.

Ver rose to prominence in the crypto space thanks to his adoption of and investment in several projects, including the exchanges Kraken and Ripple, and got the nickname 'Bitcoin Jesus' thanks to his evangelistic approach to Bitcoin.

Speaking on the podcast Show Me The Crypto, Ver said that the Ethereum ecosystem is where the action is.

This is despite widespread scaling issues, which limit to around 30 transactions per season, that have plagued the blockchain.

“Even though Ethereum doesn’t have the biggest market cap compared to Bitcoin, I think Ethereum is the front-runner in terms of driving worldwide adoption,” he said on the podcast, cited on the website Cointelegraph.

Ver most recently made headlines in January after he was sued by the crypto lending arm Genesis for failing to pay US$20.8mln in unsettled crypto options.

He argued that while he had “sufficient funds” in a Reddit post, he was no longer legally required to pay after Genesis became insolvent.
