FTSE 100 follows Asia lower - Market Report

FTSE 100 follows Asia lower - Market Report

The FTSE 100 has fallen to fresh two-month lows this morning, following similar dips in Asian markets prompted by lower manufacturing activity in China for the second month in a row.

Here in the UK though shares in discount retailer B&M are up, with the company expecting to improve on its performance in 2022 – a year in which its pre-tax profits dropped 17% on the year to £436mln.

WH Smith are also forecasting higher profits, with strong travel demand set to help it build on a 23% year-on-year rise in revenue so far this year.

Prudential’s chief financial officer James Turner has stepped down this morning, because of investigations into his conduct.

Ladbrokes owner Entain also faced a tough morning, after announcing it expects to receive a substantial penalty over previous corporate misconduct in its Turkish business.

And finally, Drax shares are down sharply despite assuring investors that an Ofgem investigation into its biomass profiling does not mean its done anything wrong.

That’s all for this morning, have a great day.
