MTB Metals' JV partner kicks off drilling at Red Cliff Gold project in BC

MTB Metals (TSX-V:MTB, OTCQB:MBYMF) Corp announced that drilling has begun at the Red Cliff Gold project, which is operated by its joint venture partner Decade Resources Inc.

MTB holds a 1.35% NSR royalty and a 35% interest in the mine, which is located 20 kilometers north of Stewart in British Columbia.

Drilling is underway on the Upper Montrose Zone (UMZ), 200 meters north and 200 meters higher than the Lower Montrose Zone.

Historic mining in the early 1900s, resulting in 2,385 meters of underground workings, focused on the Red Cliff Zone (RCZ), a copper-dominant part of the mineralized system. The LMZ, 1,000 meters north of the RCZ, saw about 59 tonnes mined in 1940, averaging 84 grams per ton of gold.

The property hosts a 1.2-kilometer mineralized trend, extending from the RCZ, through the LMZ and the UMZ. Earlier work focused on small-scale mining, but the steep topography impeded efforts to effectively explore this trend.

The current core drill plan draws on a comprehensive modeling exercise incorporating the full set of historic data, the company said. Modeling by an independent geologist helped identify controlling features and structural trends related to the gold values encountered in the earlier drilling.

Going forward, a geologist engaged by MTB will be participating in the core logging process.
