DISH Network Corporation shares climbed 10% to $6.84 on Thursday following a Wall Street Journal report that the pay-TV services company is in talks to sell wireless plans for its new mobile phone service on Amazon.com.
The media outlet also noted that details of the new plans could be announced as soon as June, but wrote that the financial details of the deal could not be learned.
DISH is currently a customer of Amazon's cloud-computing services.
The Wall Street Journal added that Federal regulators have set a June 14 deadline for DISH to meet certain network coverage milestones, and not reaching those milestones could lead to financial penalties.
Shares of DISH Network have plunged more than 52% in the year-to-date.
