ReNeuron reports increase in revenue after a transitional year

ReNeuron Group PLC (AIM:RENE, OTC:RNUGF) has revealed an increase in revenue and reduced losses in its unaudited preliminary results for the 12 months ended 31 March 2023, after a transitional year for the company.

The firm, a UK-based leader in stem cell-derived exosome technologies, reported full-year revenue of £0.5mln, an increase from £0.4mln in 2022, generated from partner-funded development activities and royalty income.

ReNeuron reduced its loss for the year to £5.4mln, compared to a loss of £9.7mln in the previous year, driven by lower costs and increased revenue.

The company also achieved significant operational milestones during the year, notably successfully establishing CustomEX, a groundbreaking stem cell-derived exosome drug delivery platform.

Meanwhile, proof-of-concept studies demonstrated superior targeting and delivery characteristics for all seven exosome populations, surpassing current delivery methods, and in-vivo studies are currently underway to further validate the platform's capabilities in targeting specific cells and tissues.

To ensure operational efficiency, ReNeuron implemented a business restructuring, resulting in a 40% reduction in headcount and lowered variable costs, a realignment reflecting the company's focus on developing, partnering, and potentially licensing CustomEX.

ReNeuron also made notable leadership changes, appointing Iain Ross as executive chairman, John Hawkins as chief financial officer, Dr Randolph Corteling as chief scientific officer, Suzanne Hancock as chief operations officer and Simon Dew as chief business officer.

In the results statement, executive chairman Ross expressed enthusiasm about ReNeuron's transformative year, stating: "During the last year, the company has undergone a complete transition ... to create sustainable value for shareholders with the emphasis on the development, partnering, and potential licensing of CustomEX."

Ross said he remains optimistic about the company's future, anticipating the generation of validating data that would enable partnering and licensing deals in the coming year, ultimately transforming the company.
