Poolbeg Pharma PLC (AIM:POLB, OTCQB:POLBF) told investors it has appointed Brendan Buckley as an independent non-executive director of the company with immediate effect.
Buckley has been an advisor to Poolbeg since its inception. He is an expert in metabolic diseases with over 40 years' experience in clinical practice as a consultant physician in endocrinology, diabetes and in academic clinical pharmacology, Poolbeg noted.
In business, he was previously chief medical officer at ICON PLC, he was also on the Directors of the Irish Medicines Board, was a member of the European Medicines Agency Committee and was on the European Medicines Agency Scientific Advisory Committee on diabetes and metabolism.
Poolbeg noted that Buckley has published over 150 scientific papers, mainly on metabolic disease and he is seen as a key opinion leader in his specialism.
"We are delighted to have Brendan join the board of directors,” Poolbeg chief executive Jeremy Skillington said in a statement.
“His significant contribution to Poolbeg during his role as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board, and his considerable industry experience will be of tremendous benefit as we continue to pursue our goal of becoming a one-stop-shop for pharma and biotechs seeking products to in-license."
Buckley, meanwhile, commented: “Poolbeg has a unique model and pipeline and I look forward to working alongside such a strong management team targeting a number of growing markets."
