NetScientific PLC (AIM:NSCI), an investor in tech and life science companies, said its portfolio firm, Sofant Technologies, has inked a strategic agreement with Inmarsat Government, a collaboration designed to enhance the communication capabilities of aircraft.
Sofant, a pioneer in advanced antenna technologies, will join forces with Inmarsat, a major supplier of secure global telecommunications to the US Government.
Together they will together develop a phased array antenna to bolster connectivity, reliability, and performance in airborne operations to meet the need for efficient, discreet communication systems.
This new antenna will exploit Sofant's core technology to create a compact, energy-efficient terminal offering reliable, high-speed worldwide coverage.
It will cater to a broader range of aircraft via Inmarsat's Global Xpress (GX) network, the sole commercial wideband network globally.
The service includes seamless transition on the GX network's global service beams and Inmarsat's military Ka-band (Mil Ka) network's steerable beams.

NetScientific gained its exposure to Sofant as a result of its acquisition of EMV Capital.
