First Phosphate bolsters executive team with new CFO

First Phosphate Corp revealed that it had bolstered its team by appointing industry veteran Garry Siskos as the company’s chief operating officer (COO) and finance head, while outgoing CFO Bennett Kurtz moves into the role of chief administrative officer (CAO).

The Canadian company, which is focused on extracting and refining advanced phosphate material for the LFP battery industry, also announced that Gilles Laverdière has been appointed as its new chief geologist.

Garry Siskos has over 25 years of international experience as CFO and COO in multinational private and public institutions. He specializes in strategy, capital raising, structured finance, and M&A with experience in the technology, mining, and automotive sectors. He was involved in two of Canada's Top 100 growth organizations.

"(Siskos') years of organizational experience are crucial to a company like ours as we begin to structure-out our divisions and to model for sustainable long-term growth," said First Phosphate CEO John Passalacqua.

"I have had the pleasure of working with Garry on numerous projects for the past 30 years, and there is no one who gives me more confidence to have by my side in the development of this epic North American project."

Siskos said he is “excited” to continue his career journey alongside the First Phosphate team and help them to optimize the value of its LFP battery related mining assets.

"The global transition towards sustainable energy presents a compelling opportunity for First Phosphate. Our LFP related mining assets will play a pivotal role in supporting this global paradigm shift," Siskos added.

First Phosphate owns the Lac à l'Orignal flagship property, supporting land and 1,500 square kilometers of additional blue-sky land claims in the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region of Quebec. The firm is currently spearheading a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) at its Lac à l'Orignal property that is expected to provide results by the fourth quarter of this year.

Meanwhile, First Phosphate's Bégin-Lamarche property is 75 kilometers from the deep sea Port of Saguenay. The company has recently concluded a 4,274-meter drill program at Bégin-Lamarche, the most important of its blue-sky development properties. The company said it expects to announce drilling results for the Bégin-Lamarche property in the coming weeks.
