Can HP deliver a fiscal 2Q earnings beat despite challenging PC sales environment?

HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) is slated to report fiscal second-quarter results after the market closes on May 30, when the company will look to extend its streak of meeting or exceeding expectations.

The personal computer company has met or beaten on earnings in each of the last four quarters.

For the three months ended April 30, HP is expected by analysts on average to bring in $13.09 billion in revenue, compared to $16.5 billion a year earlier, and earnings of $0.76 per share, compared to $1.08.

The company’s own guidance a quarter ago forecasted EPS between $0.73 and $0.83.

According to Zacks, another beat could be just around the corner. The Zacks Earnings Expected Surprise is +2.63, which suggests that analysts have been becoming more bullish on the company lately.

Investors will be watching for personal computer sales, which were down 24% year-over-year when the company reported fiscal first-quarter results in February.
