UK employees feel unprepared to utilise artificial intelligence (AI) in their workplaces, revealing a gap in readiness for the technology, according to a study commissioned by recruitment firm Hays.
The survey showed that while 56% of employers view AI as a beneficial tool, only 49% of employees agree.
Businesses cite cost savings, improved productivity and process efficiencies as the main advantages of AI. BT Group PLC (LSE:BT.A), for example, plans to replace thousands of roles with AI by 2030.
However, 55% of workers claimed their employers are not supporting them to adapt to AI use in the workplace.
The highest uptake of AI was noted in the marketing sector, with 37% of professionals using AI tools.
