Prospector Metals Corp. (TSX-V:PPP, OTCQX:ETHOF) has announced diamond drill results from its 100% owned district scale Whitton nickel-copper-platinum group elements (PGE) project in northwest Ontario, including 0.49 grams per tonne (g/t) platinum + palladium over 10.5 metres from 14m downhole, as well as 0.46 g/t platinum + palladium over 14.4m from 5.6m in Hole# WL003.
The precious and base metals explorer said the 2023 maiden drill program consisted of four NQ-sized diamond drill holes totaling 826.4m to test the Roadcut platinum-palladium target and the Whitton nickel-copper sulphide target.
“The maiden drill program at Roadcut successfully intersected a previously unknown and highly anomalous platinum + palladium bearing altered and mineralized gabbro; an encouraging positive step forward for a project that has seen little systematic exploration in the past,” Prospector Metals co-chairman Rob Carpenter said in a statement.
“We are eager to resume prospecting to expand this exciting new discovery,” he added.
Prospector Metals noted that it completed the first-ever drill holes at Roadcut and mineralization is open along trend and at depth.
As well, the company said two drill holes totalling 580.73m were completed to test the Whitton geophysical conductor but no significant metal values were intersected.
Prospector Metals added that the presence of low-grade, yet significantly anomalous nickel-copper-PGE values in rocks with less than 5% total sulphide (disseminated) at Whitton suggests that rocks with massive sulphide concentrations could yield much higher metal values, and additional analysis of the results will be ongoing to ensure the Whitton conductor was adequately tested.
Prospector Metals is a Discovery Group company focused on district-scale, early-stage exploration of gold and base metal prospects and creating shareholder value through new discoveries.
The company's focus is to identify underexplored or overlooked mineral districts which display important structural and mineralogical similarities with well-endowed mining camps.
