Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies reaches milestone with phase 1 trial approval for pain relief drug

Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies reaches milestone with phase 1 trial approval for pain relief drug

Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies Holdings PLC (LSE:OCTP, OTCQB:OCTHF) Clarissa Sowemimo-Coker tells Proactive's Stephen Gunnion that Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approval of a phase 1 trial for its lead pain relief drug candidate, OCT461201, is a significant milestone for the company.

Sowemimo-Coker said recruitment for the trial has already begun, with completion expected in the third quarter of 2023.

The drug targets chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) and has the potential for other indications like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other neuropathy. The phase 1 trial focuses on safety and will pave the way for phase 2 trials in other indications, she added.
