A quiet day for company news led by finals from semiconductor manufacturer IQE PLC (AIM:IQE) and interims from ventilation supplier Titon Holdings (LSE:TON).
However, the key on-diary event on Friday will be the monthly update of the GfK consumer confidence indicator.
Trading Economics writes: "The GfK Consumer Confidence indicator in the United Kingdom rose to -30 in April 2023 from -36 in March, hitting its highest level since February 2022 and exceeding market expectations for a reading of -35, as Britons took a more positive view of their finances and the health of the wider economy
Joe Staton, client strategy director at GfK, said there had been a “sudden flowering of optimism” among households.”
The consensus forecast is for a fall to minus 27 and as Trading Economics points out that is still a long way from zero.
Other updates include the engineering group, Smiths Group (LSE:SMIN), which will be reporting third-quarter results.
