Aldoro Resources Ltd (ASX:ARN) has concluded a highly productive site visit by board members to the Kameelburg Rare Earth Carbonatite Project in Namibia that the company said had “exceeded expectations”.
The visit, conducted as part of a comprehensive due diligence exercise, has identified extensive REE-hosted rocks on an imposing carbonatite plug mountain.
Aldoro's board members also engaged in positive meetings with key Namibian stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the vendor of the Kameelburg Project, and the property landowner.
The exploration team, accompanied by a highly experienced geological consultant acting as the in-country manager, observed the remarkable size of the carbonatite and its beforsite phases, further affirming the potential of the Kameelburg deposit.
Visit highlights
During the site visit, the Aldoro team visited specific areas within the Kameelburg site where rock chip assays had previously indicated high total rare earth oxide (TREO) contents of more than 3%.
These observations provided valuable insights and informed the development of an upcoming exploration strategy aimed at assessing the economic potential of the vast carbonatite deposit.
Furthermore, the meetings with Namibian authorities confirmed the country's status as a favourable and mining-friendly jurisdiction, boasting established mining regulations and a long history of successful mining operations.
The acquired exploration project licences (EPL 7372, 7373 & 7895) were found to be in good standing and free from any legal encumbrances.
Historical exploration efforts, including rock chip and soil sampling, hyperspectral surveying, and analytical studies, were also discussed.
Forward plan
Aldoro Resources has outlined its forward work program for the Kameelburg project as follows:
- submit an environmental management plan for the project in order to obtain the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC);
- complete the project’s initial exploration forward work plan & budget which includes mineralogy and metallurgy test work;
- continue setting up an operating framework for Namibia, including organising a local controlling entity, and access agreement with local stakeholders; and
- conduct a desktop study, acquire historical datasets over the whole project area.
