Trillion Energy International drills 43m of gas pay at Bayhanli 2 well in Turkiye

Trillion Energy International Inc has announced that drilling at its Bayhanli 2 well at the SASB gas field in the Black Sea offshore from Turkiye has reached 3,425 metres (m) total measured depth and true vertical debt of 1,231m, while discovering an “abundance” of gas pay.

The natural gas focused producer said initial petrophysical analysis has indicated about total 43m gas pay in 6 Sand Units of Akcakoca Member.

“The Bayhanli 2 well gives Trillion Energy 5 wells for 5 activities now at SASB,” Trillion Energy International CEO Arthur Halleran said in a statement.

“We are in the process of evaluating how to maximize the gas production from each well as more wells are brought into production,” Halleran added.

Trillion noted the initial perforation intervals are currently being selected to bring the well into production.

The company added that completion and flow testing will occur once the well is perforated, with results to be announced next week.

Bayhanli 2 is expected to start generating revenue at the end of May 2023, Trillion said.

After completion of the Bayhanli 2 well, the rig will be moved to the Akkaya Tripod to start drilling the Alapli 2 well, according to the company.

Trillion Energy International is focused on natural gas production for Europe and Türkiye with natural gas assets in Türkiye and Bulgaria.

The company is 49% owner of the SASB natural gas field, one of the Black Sea’s first and largest-scale natural gas development projects; a 19.6% (except three wells with 9.8%) interest in the Cendere oil field; and in Bulgaria, the Vranino 1-11 block, a prospective unconventional natural gas property.
