Nano One Materials successfully completes phase two of co-development project with CBMM

Nano One Materials Corp (TSX:NANO, OTC:NNOMF) said phase two of the advanced lithium-ion battery cathode materials coating co-development project with CBMM, the world's leading supplier of Niobium products and technology, has been successfully completed.

The collaboration utilized CBMM's Niobium product to create single nanocrystal coated high-nickel (Ni>90%) NMC cathode active material. The enhanced durability was achieved through Nano One's proprietary One-Pot process and Metal to Cathode Active Material (M2CAM) technology.

In a statement, Dr Stephen Campbell, CTO of Nano One, expressed satisfaction with the progress: "During Phase One, we successfully demonstrated the Niobium coating technology to NMC811. Phase two's focus was to demonstrate the coating technology at a higher nickel CAM, which we have done successfully using our One-Pot process and M2CAM technology."

He further highlighted the positive outcomes and the confidence in CBMM's product, stating: "Achieving these milestones re-enforces the flexibility and strength of the One-Pot process as a platform technology and brings confidence in the raw materials supply chain to our cathode and automotive collaborators."

The company said the successful completion of phase two opens new avenues for marketing and cross-collaboration between Nano One and CBMM, allowing them to tap into their existing customer bases. Both companies aim to create market demand for Nano One's patented technology and CBMM's sustainable, high-quality product. This partnership also enhances supply chain resilience and provides a secure partner for Nano One in the automotive sector.

The next phase, phase three, will focus on scaling up the One-Pot and M2CAM technology using CBMM's product. It will include electrochemical evaluation in full pouch cells to demonstrate commercial viability.

Rogério Marques Ribas, head of Battery Program at CBMM, expressed enthusiasm about the project's progress: "The results of both phase one and phase two are exciting for us as it shows that by combining our technologies we are able to address a larger market of next-generation lithium-ion battery materials and be more sustainable. We look forward to scaling our successes and bringing the products to market."

CBMM is a world leader in the production and marketing of Niobium products, supplying various sectors including infrastructure, mobility, aerospace, healthcare, and energy.

Nano One Materials is a clean technology company specializing in the low-cost production of high-performance lithium-ion battery cathode materials. Both companies are committed to developing innovative solutions for the battery industry and expanding their market reach.
