Ananda Developments (AQSE:ANA) PLC said it has filed four patent applications for medical cannabinoid formulations with the UK government's Intellectual Property Office.
The filings, by its wholly owned MRX Medical subsidiary, include three cannabinoid formulations, MRX1, MRX2 and MRX3, that are being developed as cannabidiol-based medicines for the treatment of a number of complex inflammatory indications which are unmet by existing treatments, the company said.
The fourth patent application covers a proprietary method for formulating these products.
MRX1 is to be used as the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in two upcoming Phase II randomised control trials to be conducted by the University of Edinburgh.
One of these trials is investigating the effect of cannabidiol on chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy and the other is investigating the effect of cannabidiol on endometriosis.
