PyroGenesis Canada boss confident in its strategy and technology, citing strong contract backlog

PyroGenesis Canada Inc. (TSX:PYR, NASDAQ:PYR) CEO and president P. Peter Pascali has expressed confidence in the company's strategy and technology, citing a strong backlog of signed and/or awarded contracts totaling $30.6 million.

Announcing the company's results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2023, Pascali said PyroGenesis remains focused on demonstrating its expertise and capturing a greater market share in the industrial decarbonization landscape, particularly in the strategic verticals of Energy Transition & Emissions Reduction, Commodity Security & Optimization, and Waste Remediation.

He also highlighted the recent partnership with the New Zealand Trust for the Destruction of Synthetic Refrigerants, which has made PyroGenesis' waste destruction system central to their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Pascali noted the growing interest in PyroGenesis' metal powders within the additive manufacturing industry as further evidence of the company's potential.

Pascali acknowledged that quarterly revenues may fluctuate due to inflationary and logistical pressures but emphasized that their customer-ready solutions will gain more visibility as heavy industry races to meet decarbonization goals and maintain a competitive advantage.

PyroGenesis recorded revenue of $2.6 million in the first quarter of 2023, representing a decrease of $1.6 million compared with $4.2 million recorded in the first quarter of 2022, and a comprehensive loss for Q1 2023 of $6.2 million compared to a loss of $4.1 million in Q1 2022.

During Q1 2023, PyroGenesis focused on advancing its updated business strategy, consolidating its solution ecosystem under three key verticals. These verticals align with economic drivers crucial to global heavy industry: Energy Transition & Emission Reduction, Commodity Security & Optimization, and Waste Remediation. The company aims to help heavy industries reduce fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions, recover viable metals, optimize production, and safely destroy hazardous materials while recovering valuable substances.

PyroGenesis is a high-tech company specializing in the design, development, manufacture, and commercialization of advanced plasma processes and sustainable solutions. Its proprietary plasma technologies are gaining traction in the iron ore pelletization, aluminum, waste management, and additive manufacturing markets.
