Burberry results may show China rebound

Investors in Burberry Group will be hoping Thursday's preliminary results show a boost from China's pandemic re-opening.

The UK luxury fashion brand missed expectations in its third quarter as Covid lockdowns weighed on performance.

Since then, China has lifted Covid restrictions, a move Burberry backers will hope boosts its final quarter performance and provide a strong end to the year.

A 23% rise in the shares in the year to date seems to indicate there is optimism, perhaps as one of the FTSE 100 company's French luxury goods rivals may have given the markets an indication of what to expect.

Hermes recently reported a 23% rise in sales in the first three months of the year, driven by growth in Asian and European markets, with strong momentum in China acting as a key component.
