FTSE 100 up, Currys raises profit guidance - Market Report

The FTSE 100 started the week on the front foot, with Asian markets providing strong support.

In corporate news, Currys raised its profit guidance after a better-than-expected performance in the UK and Ireland. It now expects adjusted pre-tax profits between £110mln-£120mln.

British American Tobacco named Tadeu Marroco as its new chief executive. He will replace Jack Bowles, who is stepping down from the board today.

Beleaguered data company Wandisco is mulling funding options as the group continues to wrestle with the fallout from financial irregularities at the firm. Shares have been suspended from trading since 9 March this year.

CentralNic said it is launching its second share buyback after reporting a 15% increase in net revenues to quarter end March. Chief executive Michael Riedl described the performance as “highly resilient.”
