ImmuPharma eyes clinical trial progress

ImmuPharma PLC (AIM:IMM, OTC:IMMPF)’s focus for the current year will be on moving Lupuzor, its treatment for the autoimmune disease lupus, into a phase II/III clinical trial later this year.

Its progress towards pivotal testing in the second half could coincide with the first clinical assessment of the drug in patients with the progressive neurological disorder, chronic idiopathic demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), investors were told.

The update was provided in commentary contained in the company’s full-year results, which also reprised ImmuPharma’s significant progress to date.

This included a successful pharmacokinetic study of Lupuzor and the agreement of an adaptive trial with US regulators for the drug.

Two further meetings with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are scheduled in May and June to discuss respectively specific protocols for the upcoming CIDP and lupus studies.

Unsurprisingly, ImmuPharma booked a loss for the 12 months ending 31 December 2022 as it invested in R&D and work ahead of the landmark clinical trials. The deficit was £3.8mln. It exited the period with £700,000 cash on the balance sheet.
