Québec Nickel Corp (CSE:QNI, OTCQB:QNICF) has begun a scoping-level metallurgical test work program at its Ducros project in Québec, the company announced.
The program is intended to perform a preliminary evaluation of the amenability of the Fortin Sill Zone to produce saleable critical metals-bearing (nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum group element and gold concentrate).
This step follows major drill results from the company’s 2022 exploration program at the Fortin Sill Zone, including 31 meters of 0.37% nickel, 0.40% copper, 176 parts per million (ppm) cobalt and 0.55 grams per ton (g/t) platinum-lead-gold in hole QDG-22-09.
In April 2023, Québec Nickel completed multiple drill holes at the Fortin Sill Zone which will supply material for the metallurgical test work program, the company said. These dedicated holes were designed to mimic previously completed holes at the zone and targeted distinct styles and grades of mineralization.
The program will also evaluate whether recoveries can be optimized by producing a combined nickel-copper concentrate or two separate nickel and copper concentrates, the company said. The work will also evaluate how the other metals of interest, such as cobalt, platinum, palladium and gold, behave under different recovery scenarios.
Québec Nickel is a mineral exploration company focused on acquiring, exploring, and developing critical metals projects in Québec, Canada.
