Members of the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) who work on the Elizabeth Line are set to take industrial action on 24 May, bringing the service to a standstill shortly after its one-year anniversary.
A statement from the Union said the strike is in reaction to an ongoing dispute over the pay of key operational staff.
Staff working on the Elizabeth Line, the TSSA said, are paid “tens of thousands of pounds” less than colleagues performing similar roles on other parts of the Transport for London network.
TSSA said action short of a strike, such as an overtime ban, will run from 27 May to 4 June.
“We’ve been in talks with management for almost a year now, yet the majority of our members have been offered an uplift of just over 1% to make up for the huge pay differentials,” said organising director Mel Taylor.
“Elizabeth Line staff work weekends, nights and even Christmas Day, operating the world's only fully digital railway, but many earn less than two-thirds of the salary paid to other TfL staff in similar roles. Our members don’t want to have to take strike action, but they’ve had enough.”
This is the second strike held by Elizabeth Line employees after members took action on 12 January this year.
