GR Silver Mining Ltd (TSX-V:GRSL) said it has hired Samantha Shorter as its new chief financial officer (CFO) to replace Blaine Bailey who is retiring, effective immediately.
The company said Bailey was instrumental in advancing the company, having applied more than 20 years of experience as a CFO for mineral exploration companies listed on the TSX, the TSX Venture, and the New York Stock Exchange. Bailey served as the CFO of GR Silver's private predecessor, Goldplay Exploration Ltd., from November 2012, and continued as CFO after the company went public in March 2018.
It noted that Shorter has been previously engaged as the CFO of several public and private companies with exploration and mining operations in Mexico, Brazil, the United States, and other nations.
The company said Shorter's strong leadership and team management qualities during the recruitment process, in addition to her skills in financial modeling, tax planning, compliance in international listings, and internal control compliance. Prior to her CFO roles, Shorter had extensive experience managing audit engagements at a major accounting firm.
"I am very pleased to welcome Samantha and look forward to her contribution as we all work together to build GR Silver Mining. We cannot thank Blaine enough for his many contributions to the company, getting us to this point," said Eric Zaunscherb, chair & CEO of GR Silver Mining in a statement.
