Mineral and Financial says tests at Lagoa Salgada 'robust' so far

Mineral and Financial Investments Ltd (MAFL) said metallurgical test work on the ore from its Lagoa Salgoda project in Portugal has identified some improvements in the recovery process, though final flotation tests need to be carried out to determine optimum grades.

The tests are part of the feasibility study currently underway at the project, which MAFL said operator Redcorp expects to release later this month.

Results so far support expectations for the deposit at Venda Nova and will support a robust feasibility study, said Jacques Vaillancourt, MAFl’s chief executive.

Venda Nova is one of the deposits at Lagoa Salgoda and contains copper, zinc and lead.

"It is a very common feature of the Iberian Pyrite belt that the metallurgy is complex, as we have noted in the past, due to the polymetallic nature of the ores,” Vaillancourt added.

“Metallurgical test work to further optimize metal recoveries and concentrate grades will be a continuous process as we develop the project."
