1606 Corp said it has launched its first major marketing campaign for 2023 focused on menthol-flavored tobacco alternatives in California to address the demand for menthol-flavored smokables following the state’s ban on menthol-flavored tobacco.
The company said its multi-channel direct marketing campaign, labelled ‘Cali Push,’ targeted California merchants, convenience stores, gas stations, liquor stores, and smoke shops which previously stocked menthol-flavored products.
By introducing new merchants to 1606’s tobacco-free, menthol-flavored smokable hemp product CBD Singlz, the company said it aims to fill shelf space left by the ban quickly.
It has enough inventory to place menthol replacement products in more than 2000 stores immediately, 1606 noted.
1606 CEO Greg Lambrecht said dozens of merchants have already requested display samples and the company has already received initial orders as a result of the marketing push.
"We're currently in hundreds of retail locations, but with our new menthol smokable, which is 100% legal as it contains no tobacco or nicotine, we expect to see the number of retail stores increase substantially in the next several months,” Lambrecht said in a statement.
1606 noted that it is in the process of increasing production of its menthol replacement product as seven more states – Vermont, Oregon, Maryland, Hawaii, New Mexico, New York, and Indiana – have introduced legislation banning the sale of flavored nicotine products, including menthol-flavored cigarettes, and more than 260 municipalities have prohibited the sale of all flavored tobacco products.
A spin-off from SinglePoint, 1606 is an acquisition-based CBD holding company with tobacco alternative products.
