Nano-X Imaging shares soar on FDA clearance of medical imaging system

Nano-X Imaging (Nanox) shares jumped more than 60% after the medical imaging technology company announced it has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its X-ray technology Nanox.ARC.

Nanox.ARC offers high-powered digital X-ray tubes for 3D tomosynthesis imaging, the company said on Monday.

The technology can now be used in professional healthcare ‎facilities or ‎radiological ‎environments, such as ‎hospitals, clinics, imaging ‎centers, and ‎other medical practices‎ by trained radiographers, ‎radiologists, and physicians.

Nanox said the imaging system could potentially increase the availability of medical imaging globally, once approved by local regulators and deployed at scale.

“Today’s milestone is a significant achievement as part of our commitment to make state-of-the-art medical imaging technology available for use in a wide array of professional healthcare facilities and other medical practices,” said Nanox CEO Erez Meltzer in a statement.

“Our vision is that Nanox's innovative technology and approach not only have the potential to increase access to medical imaging but also to shift healthcare from reactive to proactive, enabling early detection and prevention of diseases.”

Nanox shares were up 60.4% at US$9.80 late morning on Monday.
