AMPD Ventures Inc (CSE:AMPD, OTCQB:AMPDF) noted that its Departure Lounge Inc subsidiary and Monstercat's co-production has helped win a prestigious Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) BOLD Award for WHIPPED CREAM's "Someone You Can Count On" EP.
WHIPPED CREAM's 'THE DARK VR' mixed-reality music video won the award for its innovative approach to marketing and its use of cross-media creative approaches.
The video transitioned from a teaser at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) to a full 2D music video and later evolved into a fully immersive virtual-reality experience that premiered at South by Southwest (SXSW) 2023. The video allowed viewers to step inside the mind of WHIPPED CREAM and experience the emotion conveyed in the song.
In a statement, Adam Rogers, VP of Creative and Head of Studio at Departure Lounge, said: "We're honored to have played a role in the success of Monstercat's campaign for the new WHIPPED CREAM EP. This project gave us an opportunity to push the boundaries of immersive technology and storytelling in the music industry and create Canada's first fully volumetrically captured music video."
Departure Lounge creates 3D, immersive worlds for every screen from mobile phones to giant LED virtual production walls, and for every sector from film and television production, through immersive training applications to real estate and digital twinning.
Monstercat is an independent electronic music record label founded in Waterloo, Canada, in 2011.
