Greatland Gold PLC (AIM:GGP, OTC:GRLGF) and partner Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX:NCM) have reported more high-grade intercepts from drilling at the Havieron mine in Paterson, Western Australia.
In-fill drilling continues to confirm high grades in the initial discovery area, Greatland said.
At the same time, holes outside this zone in the Eastern Breccia also hit thick gold intercepts, albeit at deep levels.
Best of the latest results were 54 metres (m) of gold at a grade of 8.5 grammes per tonne (g/t) from 1,421m within the original SE Crescent discovery zone and 31m at 4.9g/t from 1,635m at Eastern Breccia.
Newcrest, which owns 70% of Havieron with Greatland holding the remaining 30%, also reported the development of the mine was progressing well with the main decline now at a depth of 1,600m and development tunnels overall over 2,225m.
Shaun Day, Greatland’s managing director, said: "The Havieron team continues to deliver strong results at the project.
“Total development has now surpassed 2,025m and pleasingly, decline development is continuing in line with the schedule.
"Our most recent drilling activities highlight the high-grade nature of the SE Crescent zone.
"In addition, drilling has delivered high-grade intercepts outside of the present Havieron mine plan, including additional gold and copper mineralisation intersected at the northern limits of Eastern Breccia zone."
Newcrest said the current growth/step-out drilling campaign is complete with the results to be used to support an ongoing mineral resource assessment.
In-fill drilling currently targeting the lower SE Crescent zone should be completed in the June 2023 quarter, it added.
Subsequent drilling will take advantage of underground drilling platforms once appropriate access is established, said the statement.
