Medical imaging technology specialist Polarean Imaging PLC (AIM:POLX, OTC:PLLWF) said it has received its first order for a XENOVIEW gas blend cylinder.
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center placed the order for the xenon Xe 129 hyperpolarised blend that has the capacity to supply over 100 patient scans.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved XENOVIEW as the only hyperpolarised contrast agent for use with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to evaluate lung ventilation in adults and children aged 12 and older.
It enables the visualisation of lung ventilation without exposing patients to ionizing radiation and associated risks. The Polarean HPX hyperpolarisation system creates the XENOVIEW dose, administered in a single 10- to 15-second breath-hold MRI procedure.
"Since receiving FDA approval at the end of 2022, we have been working diligently to clear the path for commercial distribution of our proprietary gas blend to sites that already have Xenon MRI infrastructure," said chief executive Richard Hullihen.
"We are delighted to secure our first sale of a cylinder and cartons of dose delivery bags for clinical use as we continue to execute our commercial plan."
More than 37mln Americans suffer from chronic lung diseases, creating a significant need for non-invasive diagnostic technology. XENOVIEW offers pulmonologists, surgeons and respiratory specialists regional maps of patients' lung ventilation to help manage their diseases.
