Global Lithium Resources lodges Mining Lease application for Manna

Global Lithium Resources Ltd (ASX:GL1) has taken another key step towards bring the Manna Lithium Project in Western Australia’s Goldfields into production by submitting a Mining Lease application.

The established multi-asset lithium company has lodged the application for MLA 28/414 with the WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS), which has formally acknowledged receipt.

GL1’s Mining Lease application was prepared based on the Manna Mineralisation Report and Supporting Document Statement, which was prepared by the company’s in-house project development team and peer-reviewed by CSA Global.

“An important step”

Global Lithium project director Tony Chamberlain said, “The successful submission of the Mining Lease application is another important step in the pathway to progress the Manna Lithium Project into production.”

The company has significant technical de-risking work streams and a metallurgical test program underway with key results to be announced progressively throughout 2023.

"We look forward to providing regular updates as well as sharing the results of the various technical de-risking work streams and metallurgical test-work, both of which are currently underway,” Chamberlain added.

Application area

The area under application covers 2,406 hectares and encapsulates the Manna Lithium Project, which is just 100 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie.

It comprises the mineral resource estimate (MRE) of 32.7 million tonnes at 1.0% Li2O and additional highly prospective lithium mineralisation areas adjacent to the MRE.

The Mining Lease application also covers:

  • Lithium mineralisation identified in the vicinity of the current MRE and subject to additional exploration in 2023;
  • Land to be utilised for the process plant;
  • Waste rock landforms;
  • Other mine operation infrastructure; and
  • Ancillary services.

Lithium focus in WA

GL1's primary focus is on the 100%-owned Marble Bar Lithium Project (MBLP) in the Pilbara region and the Manna Lithium Project in the Goldfields.

It has now defined a total inferred and indicated mineral resource of 50.7 million tonnes at 1.0% Li2O at its MBLP and Manna projects, confirming the company as a significant global lithium player aiming to fast-track into development.
